Have you installed an LCD monitor by your pool at home? Then it is best to invest in a waterproof LCD monitor. As the name suggests, these monitors resist water, but in practice, these are built to resist some climatic hazards as well, such as storms, heavy rainfall, and moderate snowfall. That is the reason these are also at times referred to as weatherproof LCD monitors.
There are some criteria that a waterproof LCD monitor must meet. Before you invest in a waterproof LCD, look out for the following features:
Sturdy casings: Waterproof LCD monitors are housed inside metal casings to protect these from harsh weather. The durability of these sets will depend on how strong the casings are. Casings can be made of aluminum or stainless steel. Both types offer excellent results, so feel free to choose the one that suits your budget.
High resolution: Waterproof LCD monitors are often mounted at a considerable elevation from ground level. So, it is necessary that these monitors have high resolution and wide angle of viewing, to ensure clear visibility in all circumstances. Also, make sure that the set displays on-screen controls with high contrast, so that those are properly visible, even in extreme weather conditions.
Aerosol protection: Simply having water resistance in these sets is not enough. Look for sets that are protected against aerosol sprays, snow, and chemical fumes as well. Most sets will have this feature, but be sure to ask once in order to confirm.
Temperature controlling mechanism: Many modern sets are equipped with heaters and cooling elements, to keep the set functioning in harsh weather. In some sets these are connected to a thermostat, which automatically turns on the mechanism required to maintain the optimum working temperature inside the set, in harsh weather conditions.
Affordable price: You should not have to break the bank in order to purchase a waterproof LCD monitor. If the price seems too steep, look for alternatives. With so many manufacturers around these days, it should not be difficult at all.
Be sure to do some researches on the internet before you proceed to purchase a waterproof LCD monitor for your home or business facility. You will come across lots of lucrative offers. For starters, check out www.i-techcompany.com. You will definitely find the perfect one for you from their vast collection of LCD monitors and accessories.

Chinese food therapy (simplified Chinese: ??; traditional Chinese: ??; pinyin: Sh Li) is a practice of healing using natural foods instead of medications.
Chinese food therapy is a modality of traditional Chinese medicine, also known as Chinese Nutrition therapy. It is particularly popular among Cantonese people who enjoy slow-cooked soups. One of the most commonly known is a rice soup that goes by many names including congee and jook. This is a traditional breakfast of Asian people all over the world. Congee recipes vary infinitely, depending upon the desired health benefits as well as taste.
Chinese food therapy dates back as early as 2000 BC. However, proper documentation was only found around 500 BC. The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine also known as the Niejing, which was written around 300 BC, was most important in forming the basis of Chinese food therapy. It classified food by four food groups, five tastes and by their natures and characteristics.
Philosophy about food
The ideas of yin and yang are used in the sphere of food and cooking. Yang foods are believed to increase the body’s heat (eg. raise the metabolism), while Yin foods are believed to decrease the body’s heat (eg. lower the metabolism). As a generalization, Yang foods tend to be dense in food energy, especially energy from fat, while Yin foods tend to have high water content. The Chinese ideal is to eat both types of food to keep the body in balance. A person eating too much Yang food might suffer from acne and bad breath while a person lacking Yin food might be lethargic or anemic.
Cantonese classification of food
Cantonese people pay much attention to the body’s reaction to food. Food items are classified accordingly, and diet is adjusted based on the body’s conditions. In effect, many Cantonese people practice food therapy in day to day situations. The following is a list of common food classifications:

What can be Protected in an Industrial Enclosure?
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.31, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
Industrial enclosures protect electronic equipment from the rigours and hazards of industrial and shop floor environments. Enclosures allow the safe use of standard equipment in hostile areas and the type of equipment that can be protected is quite extensive. All industrial enclosures are designed to offer dustproof and waterproof protection for computers, printers and monitors.
PC Enclosures
Computers in industrials areas are commonly housed in an industrial computer enclosure. These are no just merely protective metal cabinets but they house thermostatically controlled heating and cooling systems to ensure the optimum operating temperature within the enclosure. Most industrial PC enclosures are designed to operate with dusty and wet areas, some IP65 rated industrial computer enclosure can even be safely hosed down in wash down areas.
Printer Enclosures
Printer enclosures are another common protective cabinet in use. Printers are often used in industrial areas for despatch and goods in purposes. Often printers need to be used in extremely hazardous areas such as freezers where the cold temperatures will freeze conventional print heads and printer systems. A heated printer enclosure allows the safe and continual use of a printer in temperatures as low as -30 degrees.
Monitors
Monitor enclosure and LCD enclosures allow the safe use of displays, monitors and flatscreen TV’s in hazardous areas. Features of an LCD enclosure usually include shatterproof screens allowing their safe use in food production areas where broken glass can cause shut down.
Servers and Hardware Safes
Other hardware such as servers, routers and auxiliary hard drives can be kept in enclosures too. Rackmount enclosures are available as are PC safes to protect vital equipment from theft.

Industrial Touch Screens
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.31, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
Touch Screens are highly developed displays that can accurately detect the location of touches on the display area, allowing the display to be used without requiring any keyboard or other device. Most of the time, those screens are LCD touch screens which can be easily attached to any computers. They have become very common since the seventies and are very familiar in retail settings, on ATMs and PDAs as well. But one of the most well known touch screen is actually the game console called the Nintendo DS.
As a matter of fact, designing a system using a touch screen as the operator input medium is becoming more and more popular within all sectors, and specially the industrial sector.
We start seeing touch screens in our everyday life but we do not suspect that industrial LCD touch screens are actually much more used. As we have already seen it for industrial LCD displays or industrial TFT LCD, companies involved in the industrial sector are very fond of those displays, and many industrial applications actually require the use of LCD touch screens that can cope with tough environments, like heat, cold weather or even rain.
On top of that, touch simplifies a lot the human to machine interface for industrial equipment by enabling the operator’s reactions to be natural and intuitive. LCD touch screens would easily simplify the task of the engineer or the operator and dramatically reduce training time for operators while adding more capabilities to the machine itself.
Nowadays, touch screens technologies are rugged and reliable enough to be used in very harsh industrial environments where they could be used safely and can last much longer than other normal screens or displays. These screens provide a reliable interaction making them ideal for use in plenty of industrial applications.
From the clean room of an office or a warehouse to food-processing or the dusty factory floor; from portable applications to more complex computers, a wide selection of industrial LCD touch screens can now be found on the market.
The only little downside of the LCD touch screen is the ergonomic problem involved with the stress on the human fingers when a touch screen is used a lot. This issue though can be lifted with the use of a simple pen for example but obviously this solution is not really possible on touch screens places on ATMs or public kiosks for example.

Enjoying Your Outdoor TV
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.31, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
Though some consumers may consider outdoor TV an unnecessary device that would primarily used just for ‘show’ and not for actual use, but for the nature lover and the outdoor enthusiast, there is still no arguing there are a lot of advantages and enjoyment derived from this particular innovative appliance.
One of the major concerns of bringing a television set outside would be the potential damage caused by the natural elements. This is why manufacturers have introduced several models of outdoor TV which are specifically designed to resist the outside environment. These devices have all-weather surfaces that are able to resist wind, moisture, dirt, scratches, and yes, even a pouring rain. The whole television set is actually sealed tight, from the monitor itself to the cables and remote control that comes with it. This is to ensure consumers do not have to worry about potential damage and to obtain maximum use of the outdoor TV.
And of course, most models of outdoor TV uses high definition technology for optimum viewing pleasure. The screen is also especially designed to adapt to outdoor lighting, making the pictures clear even if viewed in shaded sunlight. These television sets also have anti-reflective technology to prevent glares. Outdoor TV models also have connectivity with other video sources such as CD and DVD players so movie viewing can now be enjoyed outside with friends and family.
Some models of outdoor TV can be mounted on walls of screened porches or patio while some can be mounted on aluminum poles for those who wish to have television viewing in their backyard or by the poolside. Those who regularly host family events right in their own backyard can now have additional source of entertainment. The aluminum setting of outdoor TV allows hardy use of this device without having to worry about damage. Most models also have built-in systems for adjusting to changing outdoor temperature, keeping cool during summer and dry during winter.
Though most of the outdoor TV models offered in the market cost a pretty penny, it can also provide much benefit in terms of viewing enjoyment. Homeowners can now invite friends over and enjoy their outdoor TV over lunch or dinner at the patio or by the pool. The outdoor TV can also be the entertainment focal point in parties. But perhaps the ultimate luxury afforded by outdoor TV is having the opportunity of enjoying it all by yourself, enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine or a romantic breakfast with your loved one during sunrise.
The water resistant remote control that goes with the outdoor TV are also designed to resist scratching and humidity. It can also be stored outside with the television set, with the owners never had to worry about damages.
Wall-mounted outdoor TV can also be mounted in a number of ways. It can be installed with a swivel mount for viewing flexibility. These wall mounts can also be customized in order to blend with the exteriors, so as not to create an eyesore. The outdoor TV models also come in different sizes designed to suit every potential preference of consumers.

Industrial Computers Having Tougher Motherboards
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.30, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
Computers are in very much demand today. There’s always a need of computing whether manufacturing or office sector. In this arena, Embedded Systems, Industrial Monitors have taken the lead. These computers are best suitable for many automated manufacturing process such as application like stock control and dispatch however their needs are quite a different one.
There’s a lot different environment to run the Industrial PC’s. Industrial PC’s having Industrial motherboards fulfills the needs of an office computer but they need condition like nicely air-conditioned suites, free from dust, water to be more reliable. With varying needs Industrial PC’s used in food manufacture may have to be waterproof and intrinsically sealed to prevent explosions in potentially explosive and dusty atmospheres whilst also being made of stainless steel or other easy to clean material; yet computers in heavy industry may have to also protect from dust and dirt but be able to withstand excessive temperatures, knocks and vibrations.
Found in personal computers or laptops, Industrial motherboards are tougher than normal motherboards. Industrial motherboards, like industrial LCD displays or Industrial LCD touch screen need to be able to cope with higher temperatures which need to be tougher in case of a shock or a hit.
Industrial computer systems like Rack mount system and embedded system is one of the suitable options for businesses, home and office aimed at making your work convenient, well thought-out, and creative. They are devised to safeguard fragile computer equipments. These systems possess unique features such as, durability, ease of installation, light weight, reliability and high quality.
Almost all of the communication, computing, display and any other electronic device are occupied by these systems. These systems have become more and more important that we can think of. Industrial computer systems span across all aspects of modern life whether it be education, entertainment, communication or science. These systems are dedicated to specific tasks, so embedded design engineers need to optimize it, reducing the size and cost of the product, and increasing the reliability and performance.
Industrial computers are specifically designed so that they can reliably operate in harsh usage environments and conditions. They are easily workable in conditions like strong vibrations, extreme temperatures, wet or dusty conditions. They are designed from inception for the type of rough use typified by these conditions; commercial units upgraded for this purpose make poor substitutes. Industrial computers are laced with redundant mirror hard drive and long life power supplies too with unmatched reliability features.

Industrial Computers in Washdown Environments
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.30, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
Computers are an essential tool in manufacturing and production – they increase efficiency, reduce waste and increase production. They are now found in almost every industry from steel production to cake making.
Yet computers don’t find many of these environments easy to work in. a good example is food production where computers not only have to operate in chilled environments but also have to withstand the liberal use of water.
Water is a legal requirement for many food production areas and any machine that has to operate in such areas needs to be able to be washed down and cleaned just like the rest of the equipment.
Computers, just like other electrical items, are vulnerable to water. Even light splashes on a normal desktop PC will be enough to perhaps short circuit the device. Yet in food production areas hoses are used to wipe down and wash everything.
To ensure they can use computers in these areas some food manufacturers opt to use specialist waterproof industrial computers. These machines are sealed to IP65 or IP 66 (A European Waterproof rating for enclosures) and can operate perfectly well in washdown environments.
They are however, not very flexible and their sealed design often means that any repairs, upgrades or replacement will require the skills of a service engineer. This may not matter if the computer is just printing labels or monitoring stock levels but if it is controlling production or a process then this means it must stop until the engineer arrives to repair or replace it.
Waterproof computers are also restrictive in their specifications and types of operating systems and software that they run. Many companies prefer a particular make or model of machine that they roll out to all areas of the business, some companies even use old office PC’s for their shopfloor yet with industrial computers this isn’t possible.
A simple solution is to use a standard computer and enclose it in a waterproof computer enclosure. These enclosures create a protective environment for computers and prevent any ingress of water seeping into the device. They are often sealed to the same waterproof guidelines such as IP65 and are flexible to the point that any computer can be installed inside the enclosure within minutes by any computer administrator.

Touch Screen Technology ? the Death Knell for the Computer Mouse
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.30, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
It is now nearly 40 years old but one of the most familiar office tools is about to become obsolete, according to analysts.
Invented nearly 40 years ago by Dr Douglas Engelbart while working for the Stanford Research Institute; billions of computer mice are now in operation all over the world.
However, thanks to new technologies such as touch screens and facial recognition software, it seems compute mouse’s days are numbered with analysts predicting that they could be completely obsolete within five years.
Recent years has seen an explosion of new input devices particularly with the expanding PDA and mobile phone markets where touch screen is now becoming the number one input method.
Touch Screen technology has actually been with us since the 1970’s although traditionally they were expensive and normally only used in industrial applications.
However, recent advances in technology now mean touch screen is relatively cheap and they can be found in everything from mobile phones, ATM machines, information points and even microwave ovens.
It is predicted that touch screens along with other technologies such as gestural systems like facial recognition are soon-to-become the replacement for the mouse.
The main advantage of a touch screen over the conventional mouse, keyboard and monitor layout is that the screen itself acts as both input and output devices. Not only does this save space but also it means that a computer can be placed in locations where a keyboard and mouse layout would be impractical such as outside or left unattended.
Touch screen technology is also widely used in industrial applications as not having a keyboard and mouse means that contaminants such as grease, dirt and dust cannot enter and clog up the input devices. Touch screens can also be enclosed in an industrial computer enclosure protecting it from water, dust and even explosive atmospheres allowing a computer to be placed even in the most inhospitable environments.
Touch screen technology is changing the way we interact with computers and allowing technology to be placed in areas where traditional computers would not have been placed.

Outdoor TV box ? the outdoor digital signage revolution
by waterproofmonitor on Mar.30, 2010, under Waterproofmonitor-Semicom
Long life and low maintenance are the key points to any successful signage deployment, and you may be aware that deploying outdoor TV boxes has it’s own set of obstacles.
Whilst most current outdoor TV boxes are designed to hold up in the most hostile of environments, there are six elements of deploying indoor or outdoor signage solutions before they commit to the project.
Vendor – Ensure the vendor you select provides a solid mechanical hardware design that includes minimum downtime with ease of maintenance Software- Know what front end software you require and the computer system requirements that the software needs so you can run the application trouble free. Integration – Confirm that the back end software can be integrated to meet your needs, ensure it ties up with your business system, encrypt customer data and has some form of security features that prevents hacking. Check if the back end will allow global updates, so you can make multiple changes at one time. Installation – Make sure the contract contains installation and start up services that include proper and complete installation services for the outdoor TV box to include power and data connections. Research and find out if the outdoor TV box needs power either delivered from the ceiling, through the wall or from the floor before the installers get to site. Monitoring – Remote monitoring should be included that will allow the “heartbeat” of the signage solution to be monitored or pinged form a remote location to immediately report pending problems. Service & Support – Ensure the vendor provides service and support within a reasonable time frame, from 4 to 24 hours.
These 6 considerations are set out so that your outdoor TV box deployment projects are a success, god luck.
